SYNOPSIS:

SONG OF THE KNIFE is a gritty action/love story about JEREMIAH DAGA, a lonely government assassin with a terminal illness seeking redemption and meaning to his life in it’s final days. During his last mission, he meets the spunky cab driver SCARLETT, the muse whose vitality and wit reawakens his dormant spirit. But just as they plan their escape to a new life together, Scarlett disappears. In a race against time, Jeremiah wages war against ruthless crime lords to win back his true love.

Jeremiah’s whirlwind journey is a fresh take on the action drama; blending martial arts, asian culture, dance, romance, and rich characters- ultimately turning familiar action film conventions on their ear.

THE LOWDOWN:

The HULA is a native Hawaiian dance characterized by its signature swaying hip gyrations and pushing hand movements. But for world-class assassin Jeremiah, the Hula is one of many exotic dances that possess hidden deadly martial arts techniques that he employs in his everyday work... SONG OF THE KNIFE showcases rarely seen martial arts based on Jeet Kune Do, Silat, Kali and exotic folk dances- many styles developed and made famous by Bruce Lee and Guro Dan Inosanto. But more than just a “chop-socky” flick, our film also features a dynamic, charming romance at its core along with rich characters, dark humor (ala Tarantino and Mamet); and smart, robust action sequences not unlike those found in the BOURNE IDENTITY films. And due to the current exploding interest in the sport of mixed-martial arts, Rice Power Productions firmly believes that SONG OF THE KNIFE has enormous potential to reach and delight audiences of all-stripes.

The initial budget is slated at $5 million. Principal photography is scheduled for Fall/Winter 2008. Shooting locations include Los Angeles and central Florida.

Rice Power Productions is actively seeking other investors, producers, and production companies to assist in the completion of this feature film.
